Spoofing website screen shots
What can I say, this is amazing and great fun (if used in the proper way)
Load up any web-page, then go into the address bar at the top (where the http://www.example.com part is) and type in (well cut and paste) the following:
javascript:document.body.contentEditable=’true’; document.designMode=’on’; void 0
This will allow you to edit anything on the page, just like a text editor. It will do nothing permanent to the site obviously, but you can take screenshots with the amended text.
Thanks to HaRRo on the Pay-Per-Install Forum for this interesting information.
The original author suggests that this tool is used by less-than-scrupulous individuals to spoof their affiliate earnings, by simply editing the page, then taking a screenshot. We, on the other hand, are more interested in the fact that you can edit your mate’s site, then send him screenshots with it saying whatever you want. Or what about editing one of the main news reports to include someone you know’s details, then emailing it to them?
A really interesting find this one, and something you can spend a few hours playing with. Obviously, there is also a warning in there - don’t believe everything you read on the internet, as most things can be ‘tweaked’.
